The 2009 Spring Central Section Meeting of the AMS will be held in Urbana, IL, March 27-29, 2009. There will be a Special Session on Local and Homological Methods in Commutative Algebra organized by Florian Enescu and Sandra Spiroff. Eighth Colloquiumfest, CUNY

The Eighth Colloquiumfest will be held in New York City at the CUNY Graduate Center on March 6-7, 2009.
The event will present invited talks on valuation theory and algebraic geometry, orderings and model theory.
A tentative list of speakers includes Dale Cutkosky (Missouri), Samar El Hitti (New York City College of Technology), Krishna Hanumanthu (University of Kansas), Olga Kashcheyeva (University of Illinois at Chicago), Kiran Kedlaya (MIT), Philipp Rothmaler (CUNY – Bronx Community College), and Michael Temkin (University of Pennsylvania).

2nd Bluegrass Algebra Conference

The 2nd Bluegrass Algebra Conference will be held in Lexington, Kentucky, during the period March 6-8, 2009. The conference continues a well established tradition of commutative algebra and algebraic geometry meetings in the Midwest. In order to enhance the visibility of mathematics among the diverse population of the University of Kentucky students, the conference will be preceded by a lecture aimed at the undergraduate level. The lecture will be delivered by Professor David Cox (Amherst College) and it is scheduled at 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 5, 2009. The official beginning of the conference will be marked by a colloquium talk delivered by Professor Steven Kleiman (MIT), which is scheduled at 4:00 pm on Friday, March 6, 2009. Workshop on representations and cohomology, Koeln

The algebra group of the University of Cologne will hold a Workshop on Representations and Cohomology at Koeln, March 1 to March 6, 2009. The workshop will include lecture series by Eric Friedlander, Srikanth Iyengar and Changchang Xi; lectures by Claire Amiot, Osamu Iyama, Bernhard Keller, Matthias Kuenzer, Steffen Oppermann, Dan Zacharia; and further talks to be announced later.

Affine Algebraic Geometry at TIFR

The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences at the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research, India, will host a Conference on ‘Affine Algebraic Geometry’ 22–28 December, 2008. The conference will take place at the Fireflies Intercultural Centre, Bangalore.
