There will be a Session on Commutative Algebra at the Pre-ICM International Convention on Mathematical Sciences (ICMS2008) at the Department of Mathematics, University of Delhi during December 18-20, 2008. The Session will be organized by Ayman Badawi.
The Convention is part of “India Mathematics Year 2009”, part of the preparations for the International Congress of Mathematicians in Hyderabad in August 2010.

The 5th Seminar in Commutative Algebra and Related Topics will be held December 10-11, 2008, in Isfahan, Iran. It is being organized by Javad Asadollahi (Shahre-Kord University and IPM), Bijan Taeri (Isfahan University of Technology), Mohamma Reza Vedadi (Isfahan University of Technology), and Siamak Yassemi (University of Tehran & IPM). The CMS Winter Meeting 2008, will be held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on December 6-8, 2008.
A scientific session in Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry is organized by Sara Faridi (Dalhousie) and Anthony V. Geramita (Queen’s). Its schedule, list of speakers, and abstracts can be found on the conference web page.
There is also a scientific session on Representation Theory of Algebras, which may be of interest to some commalg.org readers. That session is organized by Vlastimil Dlab (Carleton) (Carleton) and Ragnar-Olaf Buchweitz (Toronto), and abstracts are available on the web page.

The GSU-USC Commutative Algebra Seminar, November 14–16, 2008, Columbia, SC.
The seminar represents a collaborative effort of commutative algebraists at Georgia State University and University of South Carolina to increase exposure of their research area in the South-East through periodic meetings. The organizers for this meeting in Columbia are Andy Kustin and Adela Vraciu. The speakers include:

The Clifford Lectures is an annual event supported by the mathematics department at Tulane University since 1984. The Lectures consists of a series of talks given by a distinguished mathematician and a mini-conference held in conjunction, whose speakers are suggested by the main lecturer. This year, the conference will be held November 12-15, 2008, and the lecturer will be Professor Bernd Sturmfels of the University of California at Berkeley. The topic of the lecture series will be Tropical Algebra.

The Route 81 Conference on Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry this fall will be at Queen’s University, on the weekend of October 18-19, 2008. Talks will be held on Saturday, October 18. For more details, see the conference website.

The Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy (Bucharest) and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science from Bucharest University, in cooperation with the Romanian Mathematical Society and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science from Ovidius University, Constanta, will organize the 17th National School on Algebra, October 6-11, Constanta, Romania. The topic of the school is Combinatorial Commutative Algebra.

The 2008 Fall Western Section Meeting of the AMS will be held October 4-5, 2008 at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. The CRM (Centre de Recerca Matemàtica) announces a conference on “Interactions between representation theory and commutative algebra”, to be held at the Institut de Matemàtica in Barcelona, Spain, September 25 to 27, 2008.
The meeting will focus on the deep connections between the representation theory of finite dimensional algebras and the module theory of commutative rings.
