Kent 2006

The first annual Kent Regional Algebra Weekend will be held November 18-19, 2006 on the Kent campus of Kent State University. The meeting will consist of approximately eight 50-minute colloquium-style lectures given by researchers from Ohio and neighboring states. The speakers will represent many sub-disciplines of algebra and we expect that the talks will appeal to a broad spectrum of algebraists. The meeting is being organized by Misha Chebotar, Steve Gagola, Mark Lewis, Sean Sather-Wagstaff, and Don White. Further information about the meeting can be found at the conference website.

Polynomial Automorphisms, Hanoi

The Institute of Mathematics, Hanoi, Vietnam, and the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy, are organizing an International School and Workshop on Polynomial Automorphisms and Related Topics from October 9 to October 20, 2006, in Hanoi, Vietnam. The aim of the conference is to introduce mathematicians from Asian developing countries to recent developments in the field of Polynomial Automorphisms and its related topics in Commutative Algebra and Affine Geometry and to promote the collaboration between mathematicians from different developing and developed countries in this field.
The main topics include polynomial automorphisms, the Jacobian Conjecture and related topics, topology of polynomials and global diffeomorphisms.
The scientific program will consist of an Advanced School October 9 – 13, with 5 instructional courses for graduate students and young mathematicians from Asian developing countries, and an International Conference October 14 – 20, on recent developments in the field.
For more information, including an application form, please see the conference web page at ICTP.
