The 2008 Joint Mathematics Meetings will be held January 6-9, 2008 at the San Diego Convention Center. Lars W. Christensen, Sean Sather-Wagstaff, and Janet Striuli are organizing a Special Session on Progress in Commutative Algebra. Go here for the website maintained by the session organizers.

The CIMPA school and international conference on commutative algebra will be held at IIT-Bombay, India, Jan 2-12, 2008. The aim of the school is to introduce mathematicians from developing countries to some fundamental techniques and recent developments in Commutative Algebra and to promote collaboration between mathematicians of different developing and developed countries.
The first week (Jan 2-6) will be a school with 4 instructional courses on the following topics:

1. Cohen-Macaulayness in the associated graded rings of certain m-primary ideals in a Noetherian local ring (S. Goto)
2. Using triangulated categories in commutative algebra (S. Iyengar)
3. Lectures in Determinantal ideals (R. M. Miró-Roig)
4. Vertex cover Algebras (N. V. Trung)

The second week (Jan 8-12) is devoted to an international conference. Besides invited lectures on recent developments in Commutative Algebra, there will be opportunities for mathematicians from developing countries to present their research works.

The 4th Seminar in Commutative Algebra and Related Topics will be held November 28-29, 2007 at IPM, Tehran, Iran. It is being organized by Siamak Yassemi. More information can be found at the seminar website.

A specialised workshop on Derived Categories will be held at the CRM Barcelona from November 5 to 14, 2007, within a one-year research programme on current trends in Homotopy Theory, Category Theory, and related disciplines.
The workshop has been planned so as to allow ample time for discussions and interaction with participants, with a few talks each day and open discussion sessions. The participation of young researchers is much encouraged.

The seminar represents a collaborative effort of commutative algebraists at Georgia State University and University of South Carolina to increase exposure of their research area in the South-East through periodic meetings. The 2007 Fall Eastern Section Meeting of the AMS will be held October 6-7, 2007 at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. Jooyoun Hong and Wolmer Vasconcelos are organizing a Special Session on Commutative Algebra.

The Fall Central Sectional Meeting of the AMS, held in Chicago, October 5-6, will have a couple of Special Session of interest:

• Noam Horwitz and Irena Peeva will organize a Special Session on Free Resolutions
• Lawrence Ein and Anatoly Libgober will organize a Special Session on Algebraic Geometry

The Route 81 Conference on Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry this fall will be at Cornell University, on the weekend of September 21-22, 2007. Talks will be held on Saturday, September 22. For more details, see the conference website.
