2nd Seminar on Commutative Algebra and Related Topics, IPM, Tehran

There will be a special session in Commutative Algebra at the School of Mathematics in IPM on Nov. 16-17, 2005. The goal of this session is to bring together many of the people in Iran who are working in Commutative Algebra and related areas, to introduce students and young researchers the topics of recent research. The tentative plan is to have some talks of 30 minutes each.

Lincoln AMS meeting 2005

The 2005 Fall Central Section meeting of the AMS, in Lincoln, Nebraska, October 21-23, will have several Special Sessions of interest to commutative algebraists.

Note that the Friday afternoon talks in the second and fourth sessions will be held jointly.

MAGIC05 (Notre Dame)

In the tradition of commutative algebra and algebraic geometry meetings in the Midwest, there will be a “Midwest Algebra, Geometry and their Interactions Conference” (MAGIC), October 8-11, 2005 at University of Notre Dame.
The conference is organized by Alberto Corso, Juan Migliore, and Claudia Polini. Much more information, including a list of speakers, registration and funding, accomodations, and directions, are available on the conference website.
The conference will be preceded by a public lecture about the importance of mathematics in everyday life. This event is scheduled in the evening of Friday (October 7, 2005)

14th National School on Algebra, Constanta

The Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Bucharest University, the Institute of Mathematics “Simion Stoilow” of the Romanian Academy, the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, “Ovidius” University of Constanta, and the Romanian Mathematical Society are organizing the 14th edition of the School on Algebra, September 19–25, 2005, in Constanta. The topic of the School is “Algorithmic and Combinatorial Methods in Commutative Algebra”.

Conference in honor of Phil Griffith

There will be a Commutative Algebra Conference honoring the contributions of Phillip Griffith, September 16 – 18, 2005. The conference, held at the University of Illinois, will bring together young and established researchers in the field in a program centered around the contributions and influence of Phillip Griffith.
