MAGIC '10

This year’s Midwest Algebra, Geometry and their Interactions Conference (MAGIC’10) will be held at the University of Notre Dame, April 23-25, 2010. The organizers are:

  • Nero Budur (University of Notre Dame)
  • Alberto Corso (University of Kentucky)
  • Juan Migliore (University of Notre Dame)
  • Claudia Polini (University of Notre Dame)

The conference continues a well established tradition of commutative algebra and algebraic geometry meetings in the Midwest, among which we single out MAGC97 at the University of Notre Dame in 1997, the first Bluegrass Algebra Conference at the University of Kentucky in 2003, the Lipman-Fest at Purdue University in 2004, MAGIC’05 at the University of Notre Dame in 2005, the Purdue-UIC Workshop at Purdue University in 2006, the Hartshorne’s 70th birthday conference at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2008, the second Bluegrass Algebra Conference at the University of Kentucky in 2009, and the Libgober’s 60th birthday conference at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2009.
Young Mathematicians are especially encouraged to attend. There is a limited amount of funding provided by the following sources:

  • Department of Matematics (Notre Dame)
  • College of Science (Notre Dame)
  • Graduate School (Notre Dame)
  • Special Algebra Meetings in the Midwest grant (NSF DMS-0753127).

A registration page and further information will be shortly available at the (soon to be released) meeting website.

Atlanta: Regional Commutative Algebra Meeting

Regional Commutative Algebra Meeting in Southeast March 2010
Atlanta, GA
March 20-21, 2010
The series of meetings represents a collaborative effort of commutative algebraists at Georgia State University, University of South Carolina and University of Central Florida to increase exposure of their research area in the South-East through periodic meetings. ICMS ’10, Sharjah

The First International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics, AUS-ICMS’10, will be held March 18-21, 2010. Organized by The Department of Mathematics & Statistics, College of Arts and Sciences, American University of Sharjah, and co-sponsored by the American Mathematical Society, the aim of the conference is to bring together researchers and scientists working in the fields of pure mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematics education and statistics. The proposed technical program of the conference will include contributed talks and keynote lectures.
The Algebra Section will include

  • Algebras and Coalgebras organized by Robert Wisbauer and Jawad Abuhlail
  • Commutative Algebra organized by Ayman Badawi and Ali Jaballah

For more information, see the Algebra Section web page, or send email to Ayman Badawi (abadawi AT aus.edu).

ICAA '10, Aligarh, India

The 2010 International Conference on Algebra and Applications (ICAA 2010) will be held 20-22 February, 2010, in Aligarh, India. The purpose of the conference is to contribute to the development of Algebra and to bring together the Algebraists from all over the world working in the related areas to present their researches, to exchange new ideas, to discuss challenging issues, to foster future collaborations and to expose young researchers.
