EACA´s First International School on Computer Algebra and its Applications
(Costa Adeje, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain)
January 24-28, 2011
http://www.eacaschool.com
Registration is now open (deadline December 9, 2010)
The EACA´s First International School on Computer Algebra and its Applications is an activity of the Spanish network Red EACA, Red Tematica de Calculo Simbolico, Algebra Computacional y Aplicaciones (see http://www.redeaca.tk), partially supported by the Ministry of Education, under the Accion Complementaria MTM2009-06305-E.
The School will take place from Monday, January 24 to Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Hotel H10, Costa Adeje, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain (see http://www.hotelh10costaadejepalace.com).
This School intends to provide an opportunity for young researchers (namely, Master students, PhD students and Postdocs with less than 5 years since their PhD) in Computer Algebra and Symbolic Computation or in its Applications from all over the world, to learn from three internationally recognized lecturers, about recent developments on the following topics:
– Algebraic phylogenetics, by Marta Casanellas (Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, Spain)
– Polynomial equations in Singular and applications, by Wolfram Decker (TU Kaiserslautern, Germany)
– The diophantine Frobenius problem: algorithms, applications and generalizations, by Jorge Ramirez Alfonsin (Universite de Montpellier 2, France)
(see abstracts at http://www.eacaschool.com/school_lectures)
Each course will include, as detailed in the Program (see a href=”http://www.eacaschool.com/program”>http://www.eacaschool.com/program), both theoretical lectures and exercise/lab sessions. Participants are expected to bring their own laptop.
The School also welcomes experienced researchers interested in these topics.
Poster Session
Participants will also have an opportunity to show some of their on-going work, by presenting a Poster at the designed Poster Session on Friday, January 28. Instructions about how to submit a Poster appear here http://www.eacaschool.com/poster_session Submissions will be supervised by the School’s Scientific committee (see http://www.eacaschool.com/scientific_committee).
Social Program
Costa Adeje is, in January, a wonderful place to explore and to develop different social activities on your own (swimming at the nearby beaches, hotel pools, excursions to the Teide, to Anaga etc.), see http://www.eacaschool.com/tourist_information. The School organizes Wednesday afternoon a specific social activity (http://www.losgigantes.com/nashira.htm).
Registration
Participants, both young and experienced researchers, should fill the registration form on-line before December 9, 2010 at 23.30 at http://www.eacaschool.com/registration.
We provide financial support for participation of young researchers. They should pay the registration fee of 200 euros when registering. This fee, in addition to the financial support, covers course materials, housing (shared rooms) in the Hotel H10 Costa Adeje Palace (School’s venue) with breakfast and dinner included from January 23 (arrival at dinner) to January 29 (departure after breakfast), and also includes the participation at the social activity.
Experienced researchers do not have to pay the registration fee, but they will not benefit from any financial support. If they are interested in the possibility to be lodged at the Hotel H10 Costa Adeje Palace, advance payment for the room should be done at the registration moment. Else, AFID Congresos can help them finding other lodging facilities at Costa Adeje (eacaschool@aficongresos.com).
We highly recommend flying to Tenerife Sur airport (TFS).
