Arithmetic and Ideal Theory, Graz

From September 22nd to 26th, 2014 a conference on Arithmetic and Ideal Theory of Rings and Semigroups will be organized at the Institute of Mathematics and Scientific Computing at the University of Graz in Graz, Austria. There will be a one-day special session dedicated to the 70th birthday of Franz Halter-Koch.

Numerical Semigroups, Cortona

September 8-13, 2014, there will be a meeting in Cortona which revolves around numerical semigroups. The meeting intends to gather together people working on numerical semigroups, coming from different areas such as Factorization Theory, Algebraic Geometry, Combinatorics, Commutative Algebra, Coding Theory, Number Theory, and Semigroup Theory.

22nd National School on Algebra, Bucharest

The Institute of Mathematics “Simion Stoilow” of the Romanian Academy (Bucharest) and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Bucharest University, in cooperation with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Ovidius University, Constanta, will organize the 22nd National School on Algebra, September 1-5, 2014, in Bucharest, Romania. The topic of the school is “Algebraic and Combinatorial Applications of Toric Ideals”.
The conference aims at introducing students and young researchers to new areas of research in the topic of the school. There will a be series of three one hour lectures given by Hara Charalambous, Jorge Ramirez-Alfonsin and Viviana Ene and several contributory talks. The afternoons will be free for research and open discussions among the participants.

Escola de Álgebra, Maringá, Brazil

The Universidade Estado de Maringá in Maringá, Brazil, will host an “Escola de Álgebra” (Algebra Meeting) July 27 — August 1, 2014.
The Escola de Álgebra is a biannual meeting of algebraists and it is the largest event in Brazil entirely devoted to Algebra and related topics. Its main objective is to provide an opportunity for researchers and students to exchange ideas, to communicate and discuss research findings in all branches of Algebra.
Activities include plenary talks, invited lectures, thematic sessions, mini-courses, communications and posters.

The summer school is intended for graduate students and promising undergraduate students from all parts of the world. Each course consists of five ninety-minute lecture sessions each week. These are graduate courses approved by Dalhousie and we will facilitate transfer credit to the extent possible.

Bilbao joint meeting RSME-SCM-SEMA-SIMAI-UMI

Five mathematical organizations have joined to organize their First Joint International Meeting in Bilbao, Spain, from June 30 to July 4, 2014. They are: UMI (Italian Mathematical Union), SIMAI (Italian Society for Applied and Industrial Mathematics), RSME (Royal Spanish Mathematical Society), SCM (Catalan Mathematical Society), and SEMA (Spanish Society for Applied Mathematics). The joint meeting will include a Recent Developments in Commutative Algebra. The session is organized by:
