The 2009 Spring Central Section Meeting of the AMS will be held in Urbana, IL, March 27-29, 2009. There will be a Special Session on Local and Homological Methods in Commutative Algebra organized by Florian Enescu and Sandra Spiroff. GSU-USC Commutative Algebra Seminar

The Clifford Lectures is an annual event supported by the mathematics department at Tulane University since 1984. The Lectures consists of a series of talks given by a distinguished mathematician and a mini-conference held in conjunction, whose speakers are suggested by the main lecturer. This year, the conference will be held November 12-15, 2008, and the lecturer will be Professor Bernd Sturmfels of the University of California at Berkeley. The topic of the lecture series will be Tropical Algebra.

The Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy (Bucharest) and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science from Bucharest University, in cooperation with the Romanian Mathematical Society and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science from Ovidius University, Constanta, will organize the 17th National School on Algebra, October 6-11, Constanta, Romania. The topic of the school is Combinatorial Commutative Algebra.
