From the organizers:
We are happy to announce the summer course “Hyperplane arrangements and computations with CoCoA” 13-17th August, 2018 (Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan). More information can be found on the following websites:
This summer course is part of the “Hokkaido Summer Institute 2018” program:
- John Abbott (University of Genova)
- Anna Maria Bigatti (University of Genova)
- Elisa Palezzato (Hokkaido University)
- Michele Torielli (Hokkaido University)
- Masahiko Yoshinaga (Hokkaido University)
This course, via traditional and computer sessions, will introduce the
basic theory of hyperplane arrangements and it will teach how to compute
some of their invariants using the computer algebra system CoCoA.
The course is aimed at Master and PhD students in mathematics, and
gives 2 credits (some exercises will be assigned during the course).
The registration for students outside Hokkaido closes at the end of
February. The tuition fee is 29 600 JPY, but is free for partner
Universities. Accommodation for registered students is available on
campus at very cheap rates. See our web page for details.
This registration process is only for Master and PhD students, but we
also welcome any other type of participants.
Please contact Michele Torielli if you wish to attend.
Unfortunately we cannot offer any financial support, except for
Italian participants members of “GNSAGA – Gruppo Nazionale per le Strutture
Algebriche, Geometriche e le loro Applicazioni”.
Please contact Anna Maria Bigatti if you wish to apply.
