Andre Conference, Lausanne

Michel André, renowned commutative algebraist and former EPFL professor, died in a tragic hiking accident in July 2009 at the age of 73. In honor of his memory and of his important contributions to both algebra and topology, a conference will be held 11 – 13 May 2011, at the Bernoulli Centre of the EPFL.
Building upon the foundations laid during the Summer School on the Interactions between Homotopy Theory and Algebra, held at the University of Chicago in 2004, this conference will provide an opportunity for algebraists and topologists working on closely related subjects at the interface between commutative algebra and stable homotopy to meet and learn about each other’s work.
The conference will consist of 14 lectures on recent research in algebra and topology related to the work of Michel André, in particular to André-Quillen cohomology and the cotangent complex.
The following mathematicians have agreed to speak at the conference.
Luchezar Avramov (Nebraska)
Maria Basterra (New Hampshire)
David Blanc (Haifa)
Ragnar Buchweitz (Toronto)
Srishti Chatterji (EPFL)
Paul Goerss (Northwestern)
Jürgen Herzog (Essen)
Cristodor Ionescu (Romanian Academy)
Srikanth Iyengar (Nebraska)
Nick Kuhn (Virginia)
Mike Mandell (Indiana)
Haynes Miller (MIT)
