There will be a Joint International Meeting of the American Math Society and various Indian mathematical societies at the J.N. Tata Auditorium, Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), in Bangalore, India, December 17-20, 2003. It is organized with support from the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), and the Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS).

The local organizing committee includes K. B. Sinha (Chairman), N. Nitsure, M. Vanninathan, R. Ravindran, T. Bhattacharyya, P. Prasad, J. Biswas, B. V. R. Bhat, and G. Misra (Convener). The scientific committee includes Hyman Bass, Susan Friedlander, John Morgan, S.R.S. Varadhan, R. L. Karandikar, V. Mehta, G. Misra, N. Nitsure, and T. N. Venkataramana.
Confirmed plenary speakers include Peter Sarnak (Princeton University), George Papanicolaou (Stanford University), Vladimir Voevodsky (IAS), R Balasubramanian (Institute of Mathematical Sciences), M S Raghunathan (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research), K B Sinha (Indian Statistical Institute).

On the occasion of the first International meeting of the American Mathematical Society in India organised by the Indian Academy of Sciences and Indian National Science Academy at Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore from December 17-21, there will be an International Conference on Commutative Algebra & Combinatorics at the Harish-Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad, India, from December 8-13, 2003.
