SUMMARY:Virtual Workshop II for Women in Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry
DESCRIPTION:The Virtual Workshop II for Women in Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry is a series of 2 virtual (online) events with the overall goal of gathering a small community of approximately 15 women researchers who work in the areas of commutative algebra and algebraic geometry (broadly interpreted) to (1) form a close-knit research community and (2) to work on concrete projects which bridge these 2 areas\, in smaller groups of 3 or 4 members each. The first of the two virtual workshops will be held on February 4 – 5\, 2023\, virtually at The Fields Institute.\n\n\n \n\n\nThey are looking for women mathematicians with a mature\, established research program within Commutative Algebra and/or Algebraic Geometry\, who are also looking to develop new research connections and explore new avenues of research between and across these two areas. In particular\, we expect the proposals for projects to reach across strict discipline boundaries.\n\n\n\n\nFor more details please see:\n\n\nhttp://www.fields.utoronto.ca/activities/22-23/women-algebra\n\n\nand to apply to participate\, please use the MathJobs portal\n\n\nhttps://www.mathjobs.org/jobs/list/20124

SUMMARY:Triangulated categories and representation theory\, Paderborn University
DESCRIPTION:There will be a conference titled “Triangulated categories and representation theory” at Paderborn University\, in honour of Henning Krause. \nThroughout his career Henning has made fundamental contributions to the representation theory of algebras\, broadly interpreted\, and particularly its connections with adjacent fields such as algebraic geometry\, commutative algebra\, algebraic topology\, and modular representation theory. One of the hallmarks of his work is the clarity that it has brought to various topics through a deep and systematic use of methods from triangulated categories\, a rapidly growing subject to which he has made seminal contributions. Henning has from the very start built bridges to various research communities and has been a mentor to early career researchers in these fields\, officially for some and unofficially for many more\, including some of the organisers. \nThis conference seeks to celebrate Henning Krause’s various mathematical contributions by bringing together experts from the range of fields influenced by his work. The conference also marks the end of the generous support provided by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation as part of William Crawley-Boevey’s Alexander von Humboldt Professorship. \nWebsite: https://www.math.uni-bielefeld.de/birep/meetings/rttc2022/ \nDate: Monday 26 September to Friday 30 September 2022 \nVenue: Paderborn University\, Germany \nOrganising Committee: Dave Benson\, Igor Burban\, Bill Crawley-Boevey\, Eleonore Faber\, Lutz Hille\, Srikanth Iyengar\, Janina Letz\, Marc Stephan

SUMMARY:EMS Summer School on Combinatorial Commutative Algebra
DESCRIPTION:There will be an EMS (European Mathematical Society) summer school on Combinatorial Commutative Algebra at Gebze Technical University (in Turkey) on August 8-12\, 2022.\nThe summer school is part of a larger event acronymed SCALE (Symbolic Computation: Algorithms\, Learning\, and Engineering). \nThe main goal of this summer school is to create an environment for participants\, especially for postdocs and graduate students\, to learn about some of the foundational topics and emerging research directions in combinatorial commutative algebra. Three courses will be offered by the invited speakers and the participants will be given the opportunity to present short talks or posters. The titles of the lectures are: \n— Trace ideals in commutative algebra and combinatorics\nLecturer: Jürgen Herzog (Universität Duisburg-Essen\, Germany)\n–Convex Polytopes\, Monomial Ideals and Toric Rings\nLecturer: Takayuki Hibi (Osaka University\, Japan)\n–Binomial ideals associated to graphs\nLecturer: Sara Saeedi Madani (Amirkabir University of Technology\, Iran) \nThere will be support for accommodation and travel costs of students and early stage researchers. If you wish to apply for support\, please submit your application by May 15\, 2022. Please visit the webpage https://scale.gtu.edu.tr/CCA.html for more details including registration and funding application links.
