SUMMARY:WICA IV
DESCRIPTION:The workshop WICA IV – ICMS will be held July 20-24\, 2026 at the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) in Edinburgh\, Scotland. All program participants should hold a PhD or equivalent degree by the time the workshop takes place. More information can be found on the workshop website. \nWorkshop participants will participate in one of three types of working groups during the week. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTraditional groups: There will be two research groups in the by-now-traditional WICA format\, each with group leaders who have been recruited in advance of this announcement by workshop organizers.\nProposed research groups: only three research groups will run during the workshop\, selected based on applicant interests\, though there are 5 such groups to choose from.\nResearch dialogue groups: There will be two groups\, each with four to six participants\, who will work together to learn background material on topics on which they are not yet experts. The goals in these groups will be to build working relationships and lay the foundation for future research collaborations. There is no expectation that these groups will continue beyond the week of the workshop itself.\n\nFunding is available through ICMS and from a gift from Jane Street Capital to cover participants’ local expenses.  We are in the process of seeking sources of funding to defray the costs of participant travel; there is no guarantee that such funding will be obtainable.  Additionally\, there may be a 150 GBP registration fee. \nIf you have questions about the workshop\, please email the workshop organizers\, Susan Cooper\, Elena Guardo\, Sema Güntürkün\, and Patricia Klein.

SUMMARY:[Ischia\, Italy] Workshop on Weak and Strong Lefschetz Properties across Mathematics
DESCRIPTION:The Workshop on Weak and Strong Lefschetz Properties across Mathematics will take place October 19-23\, 2026 at the\nHotel Terme Tritone Resort & Spa\, Ischia\, Italy. \nThe arrival day is October 18th.  The number of participants is limited\, due to the capacity of the conference room.  We have very limited funds for accommodation and travel expenses for a few participants.  The deadline for application for financial support is March 31st\, and the deadline for registration is September 19th\, or until the maximum number of participants is reached. Please register at the workshop website. \nThis workshop advances the study of Lefschetz properties in commutative algebra and related fields\, fostering collaboration among researchers in topology\, algebraic geometry\, combinatorics\, and more.  Goals include promoting cutting-edge research\, mentoring junior mathematicians\, and enhancing leadership\, particularly for women and early-career researchers.  The event supports academic growth for under-represented and geographically isolated participants.  Research talks reflecting the field’s latest advancements and interdisciplinary collaboration aim to spark innovative ideas and breakthroughs\, contributing to the progress of this dynamic area of study.
