SUMMARY:Triangulated categories and representation theory\, Paderborn University
DESCRIPTION:There will be a conference titled “Triangulated categories and representation theory” at Paderborn University\, in honour of Henning Krause. \nThroughout his career Henning has made fundamental contributions to the representation theory of algebras\, broadly interpreted\, and particularly its connections with adjacent fields such as algebraic geometry\, commutative algebra\, algebraic topology\, and modular representation theory. One of the hallmarks of his work is the clarity that it has brought to various topics through a deep and systematic use of methods from triangulated categories\, a rapidly growing subject to which he has made seminal contributions. Henning has from the very start built bridges to various research communities and has been a mentor to early career researchers in these fields\, officially for some and unofficially for many more\, including some of the organisers. \nThis conference seeks to celebrate Henning Krause’s various mathematical contributions by bringing together experts from the range of fields influenced by his work. The conference also marks the end of the generous support provided by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation as part of William Crawley-Boevey’s Alexander von Humboldt Professorship. \nWebsite: https://www.math.uni-bielefeld.de/birep/meetings/rttc2022/ \nDate: Monday 26 September to Friday 30 September 2022 \nVenue: Paderborn University\, Germany \nOrganising Committee: Dave Benson\, Igor Burban\, Bill Crawley-Boevey\, Eleonore Faber\, Lutz Hille\, Srikanth Iyengar\, Janina Letz\, Marc Stephan

SUMMARY:WARTHOG 2022
DESCRIPTION:WARTHOG is a summer graduate school which is focused on a single topic. The goal is to get deep and reach a new and exciting result\, while meeting a lot of broadly applicable math along the way… but starting from the basics. We get there with a strong emphasis on exercises. \nThe workshop is intended for graduate students at all levels and in all fields who have an interest in algebra (and have completed their graduate algebra sequence). Postdocs are also welcome to apply. \nThe 2022 WARTHOG workshop will be on the topic of Infinite-dimensional methods in commutative algebra. This was originally planned to be WARTHOG 2020\, but has been delayed until now. The workshop will be held June 26-30\, 2022 at the University of Oregon\, and will be led by Andrew Snowden. More information can be found on the workshop website.

SUMMARY:LAWRGe
DESCRIPTION:The Los Angeles Workshop on Representations and Geometry is a new annual workshop which aims to bring together graduate students and postdocs interested in representation theory\, geometry\, and related subjects. LAWRGe will be held from 6/6/22 to 6/10/22 at the University of Southern California. The 2022 topic will be the relationship between Schubert calculus and quantum integrable systems developed in the papers Schubert Puzzles and Integrability I and II of Knutson and Zinn-Justin\, who will also be lead mentors for the workshop. Puzzles are combinatorial objects that\, since 2004 work of Knutson and Tao\, have been known to control intersection theory on Grassmannians and flag varieties. The more recent discovery to be explored in this workshop is that puzzles also have a representation theoretic meaning: they are controlled by R-matrices of quantum affine algebras. Potential participants should apply at https://sites.google.com/view/lawrge2022/ and should note that we can only guarantee that applications received before 4/2/22 will be considered.

SUMMARY:Macaulay2 conference at Cleveland State
DESCRIPTION:As a follow-up to the 2020 Macaulay2 @CSU virtual workshop\, there will be a Macaulay2 conference at Cleveland State University in Cleveland\, OH from Friday\, May 27 to Sunday\, May 29\, 2022 (conference activities expected to begin Friday afternoon and end late Sunday morning). \nThe main goal of the conference is to showcase state-of-the-art research in computational commutative algebra\, algebraic geometry\, and related areas\, including (but not limited to) work resulting from the 2020 M2 @CSU workshop. In addition\, we hope the conference will provide an ideal forum for the exchange of mathematical ideas in our community. To facilitate social interactions among colleagues\, the primary focus will be on in-person participation. \nFor information about the conference\, please visit https://math.galetto.org/m2csu. More details about location\, speakers and schedule will be provided in the new year. \nFor planning purposes\, the organizers kindly request all interested participants to register at https://math.galetto.org/m2csu/register.html. NSF funding will provide partial support for travel and lodging (priority will go to graduate students\, postdocs\, and participants from underrepresented communities). If you wish to apply for this kind of support\, please submit your application by January 31\, 2022. \nEDIT: Some talks at the Cleveland State M2 conference will be hosted on Zoom. To obtain an invitation for the virtual events please send a request to Federico Galetto at f.galetto@csuohio.edu .

SUMMARY:International school on Tropical Geometry
DESCRIPTION:This is an EMS-European Mathematical Society summer school organized by the IMUVA-Mathematics Research Institute of the University of Valladolid (Spain) on May 23rd-27th\, 2022 (it was originally organized for 2020 but it was postponed because of the Covid pandemic). The main objective is to offer to future and young researchers of distinct branches of mathematics a series of courses at doctorate level on a new field connected to many areas. There will be an introductory course with minimal prerequisites and three courses on recent applications in different areas. The four courses are aimed to be as self-contained as possible in order to make the school attractive to a wide and diverse audience. \nThe target audience is master’s students\, PhD students and postdocs from all areas of mathematics. Senior researchers interested in learning on this new topic are also welcome. The school is based on four courses organized in an exercise-based format (1 hour of lecture + 40 minutes of exercises for each session). We will also give the opportunity to young researchers to present their own work either through a series of short communications or a poster session. \nThe speakers and topics of the four courses are: \n– Introduction to tropical geometry.\nLecturer: Diane Maclagan (University of Warwick\, UK) \n– Introduction to tropical ideals.\nLecturer: Felipe Rincón (Queen Mary University of London\, UK) \n– Introduction to tropical curve counting.\nLecturer: Renzo Cavalieri (Colorado State University\, USA) \n– Tropical approach to singular points and its connections to Nagata’s conjecture and linear codes.\nLecturer: Nikita Kalinin Saint Petersburg University and National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE)\, Russia) \nThere will be grants covering accommodation for some of the young participants (master and PhD students\, postdocs). \nImportant dates:\n-Submission deadline and grant application: April 18th 2022.\n-Notification of acceptance on contributions and grants: April 22nd 2022.\n-Early registration until: April 29th 2022. \nFor more details please visit the School webpage: \nhttp://tropicalschool2020.uva.es/
