A bit of site news: we’ve removed the conference calendar that used to reside at commalg.org/conference-calendar/. It apparently stopped working sometime recently, though we only just discovered it. The software that generated it is no longer supported, so for now we’ve decided to remove it.
What we don’t know is whether it will be missed. So please let us know: did you use the calendar? Would you like it to come back? You can leave a quick comment on this entry. We’d appreciate your feedback.
I have used the calendar quite often. Indeed, I found it very useful to have a list of the upcoming events.
Aldo.
Thanks, Aldo.
I also find the list to be very helpful, addictive even!
Thanks, Long.
Just to make sure it’s clear: I’m talking here about the calendar that showed a month at a time, in the usual grid format like a wall calendar. The list on the front page is still as it’s always been, and isn’t going anywhere.
I used it to find dates/names of old conferences and found this feature very handy. I never used it for upcoming conferences though. I don’t mind loosing the calendar, but I would like to have some sort of archive.
Thanks, Branden. The information is still in the database, so we should be able to make an archive available. I’ll look into it.
I am a PhD student and I have almost every month checked the calender for getting involved in the world of commutative algebra. Although one can not attend a conference but knowing the events seems important specially when it is possible to follow by videos. I am wondering even if the administrators could improve this part. For example there exist some conferences in mathematics with a session in comm. algebra. This item can be considered.
